Dave Kopel is the man. He and Paul Blackman deliver the devastating but unsurprising news that the misnamed "ballistic fingerprinting" is a fraud. ( By the way, don't forget Clayton Cramer's discussion of this topic ). The scheme would be hideously expensive to set up, hideously expensive to run, and hideously expensive to search for matches. What could be the purpose of this? Why, stealth gun registration - nothing else..
