I was saddened to learn today of Stephen Ambrose's death. He was a fine man and a good historian. The recent flurry over his alleged "plagerism" was a great shame as the controversy was greatly overblown ( unlike Doris Kearns Goodwin, Ambrose had footnoted the passages' source but omitted actual quotation marks ). His works were wonderful stories of America's greatness, the exploration of the Louisiana Purchase, the building of the Trancontinental Railroad, the great liberation of Europe and more. We will miss you Mr. Ambrose.
