While I'm actually no fan of Attorney General Ashcroft, I've often found myself defending him against the exaggerations and smears that appear in both media and addlepated blogs. What I find fascinating is that Tony Blair's government is proposing sweeping changes in basic judicial rights in Britain that exceed even the wildest exaggerations of Democrats about the Bush administration.
