This piece from the Village Voice talks about one of my key objections to John Kerry - his active efforts to cut off those Americans who wished to see this country push forward with resolution of the questions regarding our Vietnam POW/MIA people. My opinion then was that John Kerry was more interested in the normalization of relations with Vietnam than he was the accountability of our Vietnam missing in action and prisoners. It is a valid question about his patriotism to ask why he put the interests of Vietnam over those of the servicemembers he likes to remind that he served with.
This also should put to bed any idea that Kerry's virulent anti-war rhetoric was a fling he had with extremism in the '70' never to return. The article and I are discussing behavior decades later.
